Future Events

CONCERT DAY

i will watch a concert tomorrow. as i said before, this will be my first to watch a major concert. so yes, i am excited.

the show will start at 8. i'm guessing it will be over by around ten.

PLANS

people are planning lots of things. i like all the plans. i am excited about it. i just hope everything will be ok. i am looking forward to visiting some places, new places. i haven't been to any other place other than here, the center of the country, and the province of my parents. i want to see something new. i want to experience things in other places.

if everything goes well, i will have a great vacation.

after all the events, i will try to find a summer job. i think earning some money won't hurt. this will also be a first for me, so i think i'll give it a shot.

Survivor Amazon

i am now watching random episodes of survivor 6--also known as survivor amazon.

this is one of my favorite seasons. it all started as the battle of the sexes. two tribes-one with all male castaways, and another one with all female castaways. then dave and jenna(since they were the youngest from each tribe) got the chance to pick three members of the other tribe to join their tribe. dave chose jeanne, heidi and christy, while jenna chose rob, matthew and alex.

then the merge happened, which made it even more exciting. new alliances were formed, people betraying one person after the other, surprising results, and many more.

there's one time jenna, who eventually became the sole survivor, gave the immunity necklace to heidi.

it's also interesting how some people struggled to stay in the game. it's even more interesting when there's a surprise.

i also liked the challenges. i remember one time when the host offered the castaways food. however, they must give up the chance to win the immunity necklace.

i am not sure if you're getting the things i'm saying. if you don't just search survivor amazon in wikipedia, and you'll have lots of information there. also you can watch it in youtube.

Juno

a while ago, i watched the movie "Juno" starring ellen page.

i(and also my classmate) thought that it was somehow based from a korean movie, "jenny, juno". but we were wrong. here's something i found,

"Unbeknownst to me, we had another spiritual cousin out there, a Korean movie called "Jenny, Juno", This time, the cousinry goes one step further and the movie is about – seriously – a pregnant teenager and her cute, sweet boyfriend. (The guy character is named Juno, not the girl.) There's no adoption subplot and apparently the film is otherwise dissimilar to mine, but how fucked up is that? I bring this up because a journalist drilled me about it recently – awkward! – and also because I saw someone on our IMDb board wondering if Juno was a remake of the K-flick. So for the record, 1.) it isn't a remake 2.) I haven't seen 'Jenny, Juno,' though I want to now, and 3.) I don't think anyone would even bat an eye about this if my film was called Jenny. The name Juno is just so darned distinctive that confusion is inevitable."

i took this from, of course, wikipedia.org. it was a statement made by the screenwriter, diablo cody.

ok here's the drill, lots of copy-and-paste-ing from wikipedia

Produced with a modest budget of $6.5 million, Juno grossed $126,277,446 in the U.S. and $29,974,137 in other territories for a total worldwide gross of $156,251,583 as of February 23, 2008. The movie benefited from an extremely positive critical reception; as of January 19, 2008 on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, 93% of critics gave the film positive reviews, based on 164 reviews. On Metacritic, the film had an average score of 81 out of 100, based on 37 reviews. Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times gave the film four stars and called it "just about the best movie of the year. [...] Has there been a better performance this year than Ellen Page's creation of Juno? I don't think so." Entertainment magazine Paste also named Juno the best film of 2007, in its year-end "Signs of Life" issue.

The film received nominations for four Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Actress for Ellen Page. It won best Original Screenplay.

Along with Knocked Up and Waitress, Juno has been cited as possibly having a pro-life theme, although the main star of the movie denies the existence of such a theme.

the movie won several awards, including best original screenplay in the 80th academy awards. the movie was also nominated for other awards.

It's Over (Finally And Sadly)

finally it's over!! three days of hell = periodical exams.

tuesday = english and religion

wednesday = physics

thursday = filipino and math

i don't have to study anymore. i don't have to read who discovered what. i don't have to solve for "x". i don't have to memorize all the details. i will not do these things anymore(at least for the next three months). i will be school-related-stress-free!!!(which is a good thing, i guess)

i don't have to pressure myself to absorb everything my teachers say.

it's time to leave my high school life and move on to the next level.

sadly, it's over!!

sad because i am not sure if i will see all of my classmates in the future. some of them are moving out of the country, some of them will go to another university, some of them, i don't know.

it's sad to leave since i know i'll miss everyone. i had a great three years with them.

good luck to all of us. SEE YOU IN THE FUTURE!!

Identity

i just discovered one great game show. it's called identity.

in the US version, the grand prize is $500,000. in the Britain version(i am not sure if it's still airing), the prize is/was 10,000 pounds.

12 strangers will be presented to a contestant, and 12 identities will be revealed. the contestant must match each identity with the stranger who owns the identity. once the contestant has an answer, the contestant must lock it down. the host will then ask the stranger, "is that your identity?" i find it amusing when the host asks the strangers this question.

here's a video of a woman winning $500,000. according to the video, she was the second winner.

Good Luck To Me!!!

Say Goodbye

Say Goodbye by S Club(S Club 7)
In the years to come
Will you think about these moments that we shared

In THE years to come
Are you gonna think it over
And how we lived each day with no regrets

Nothing lasts forever though we want it to
The road ahead holds different dreams for me and you

Sometimes goodbye, though it hurts in your heart,
is the only way for destiny
Sometimes goodbye, though it hurts,
is the only way now for you and me
Though it's the hardest thing to say
I'll miss your love in every way
So say goodbye
But don't you cry
'CAUSE true love never dies

In a year from now
Maybe there'll be thing we'll wish we'd never said

In a year from now
Maybe we'll see each other
Standing on the same street corner though it rains

Each and every end is always written in the stars
If only I could stop the world
I'd make this last

Sometimes goodbye, THOUGH it hurts in your heart,
is the only way for destiny
Sometimes goodbye, THOUGH it hurts,
is the only way now for you and me
Though it's the hardest thing to say
I'll miss your love in every way
So say goodbye (so say goodbye)
But don't you cry
'CAUSE true love never dies

And when you need my arms to run into
I'll comfort you
Nothing will ever change the way I feel

Sometimes goodbye, THOUGH it hurts in your heart,
is the only way for destiny
Sometimes goodbye, THOUGH it hurts,
is the only way now for you and me
Though it's the hardest thing to say
I'll miss your love in every day
So say goodbye
But don't you cry
Because a true love never dies

i suddenly remembered this song maybe becuase the school year would soon end, . i heard this song some time ago, years ago.

i will miss everyone in my class. this will be the last time we will all be together in one classroom. after this week, we will go to different colleges, seperate ways. i will simply miss all of them.

it's sad since it took me a long time to get to know most of them. but i am still very thankful i got to know them. they are great people. i hope i will have the chance to see all of them again. i hope there will be a day when i will have the chance to see all of them all at once(reunions, parties, etc)

Kindness

i watched a concert 2 fridays ago, featuring amateur bands. it was for the benefit of an organization--charity work. i supported it since it would feature the band of my friends. it would be their first performance and i didn't want to miss it.

i was told that they would be the last. i had no way of going home so i got worried. i was left with two options: leave the place and miss the first performance of my friends, or to stay and worry about the going home part later.

i wanted to see them perform so i stayed. i just contacted a cab driver and asked him if he could fetch me. he said yes.

i enjoyed the concert and it was worth the risk of not being able to go home. hahaha!!!

going home part.

the cab driver didn't know where the place was so i called him and asked him to just fetch me in a certain place. but i ran out of load. a classmate of mine offered his phone so i could call the cab driver again. but i couldn't contact him anymore. my classmates were asking me how i would go home. some of them offered a ride, which i really appreciated.

then someone said he could drop me off at the place. so i was able to get there.

but the cab wasn't there and i already needed to go home. my dad was already looking for me. so i rode a different cab. i got home around 1:30 am.

after getting home, i called the driver to say sorry. and his first concern was if i got home already. and he said that every thing's fine as long as i got home safe. he didn't get mad or anything, he just made sure i got home safe.

the cab driver and my classmates were really kond. and i am very grateful for their kindness and concern. i am very lucky since i know them--- wonderful people.

Tribal Council

this is the tribal council in episode 3 of Survivor Micronesia.

Yau Man was voted out. i was hoping he would stay longer. he's one of the best(if not the best) survivor castaways i have ever seen. if you saw survivor fiji, you would know that yau man was a generous person, although he gave the prize with a condition, he still gave the prize. he was one smart person, which made him a threat to some people.

in survivor fiji, yau man won the reward challenge, and won a prize, it was a car i think. yau man gave it to dreamz with the deal that if dreamz win the immunity challenge in the final four(i guess), dreamz must give the immunity necklace to yau man. and dreamz BROKE HIS PROMISE in national tv. this made me not like dreamz at all. yau man was voted out. LUCKILY, dreamz(and cassandra) did not receive a single vote in the last tribal council. earl won the million bucks, with all the votes of the jury.

i was hoping yau man would reach the final 2/3 and win the million dollars. i was hoping he would win this thing.

however, seeing parvati go would also be sad.

Scrubs

here's the best/funniest moments in the series SCRUBS. my first few posts were about scrubs, and now i have another post about the show.

i really find this series very amusing. it can make me laugh. it can even make me smile whenever i feel down.

here's something i got from wikipedia.org. it's about the main characters in the series.

The majority of the main characters in Scrubs are medical professionals. The show's narrator and main character is J.D. (Zach Braff), a young attending physician and staff internist who is sensitive, good-natured, and talented. He develops a close friendship with fellow intern and attending physician Elliot Reid (Sarah Chalke); their relationship becomes romantic on several occasions. Dr. Reid is driven by a neurotic desire to prove her abilities to her parents, her peers, and herself. J.D.'s best friend is Dr. Christopher Duncan Turk (Donald Faison), who is a surgical attending physician. Turk roomed with J.D. at college and medical school, and the two have an extremely close relationship. Dr. Turk eventually marries Carla Espinosa (Judy Reyes), the hospital's head nurse.[5] Carla is prone to over-reaction, and compulsively tells her friends how to go about their lives. Carla is also jealous of Turk and J.D's relationship, saying that she sometimes has nightmares about the two of them running away together.

Two other characters play senior roles in the hospital. Dr. Percival "Perry" Cox (John C. McGinley) is the senior attending physician at Sacred Heart and the hospital's Residency Director. J.D. considers Cox his mentor despite the fact that Dr. Cox routinely criticizes and belittles him. Cox frequently suggests that this rough treatment is intended as conditioning for the rigors of hospital life, but it is also an outlet for Cox's frustrations with his own life. Cox is actually proud of J.D., believing that he has the potential to become a great doctor. Ken Jenkins plays Dr. Robert "Bob" Kelso, Sacred Heart's Chief of Medicine. Dr. Kelso is portrayed as a cold, heartless individual, driven primarily by the hospital's bottom line rather than the well-being of patients. However, it is occasionally suggested that he has a softer side, and that his cruelty is a means of coping with the hard decisions he is often forced to make.

The only lead character who is not a medical professional is a hospital custodian known only as "Janitor". Played by Neil Flynn, Janitor has appeared in every episode, except My Lucky Day. An incident in the pilot episode establishes an adversarial relationship between him and J.D., which persists throughout the series. This tends to take the form of the Janitor pulling mean-spirited pranks on J.D., though sometimes the reverse happens.

Jumper

here's the trailer of the movie Jumper.

i watched the movie a while ago, and i liked it. some people said that it was not a good movie, but i enjoyed it. i guess people just have different opinions on different things.

i like the action parts, and the effects. it made the movie exciting. i especially like the part where griffin stole the car. it was too cool. i also like the teleportation parts.

On Being A Writer

we had this project called SOFA-spotlight on filipino authors. however, our teacher allowed us to interview journalists, songwriters, cartoonists, etc.

one group decided to bring their chosen person in class last week. she was Doreen Yu, editor of Philippine Star's sunday magazine. she was a very good speaker. everyone was listening to her. after she left, i even heard comments saying that she really was a good speaker.

one of the things she said was, "the glamour in being a journalist only lasts 17 seconds. i counted it." she said this after saying that people are wrong for thinking that being a journalist is a glamorous job. according to her, it's not. she has to meet deadlines, and by deadlines she means deadlines. i am not sure if this was her term but she said something like faintlines. deadlines are different from faintlines because deadlines mean you need to accomplish the task in this exact time, unlike faintlines that you can somehow delay it. (i am not sure if this was what she meant)

there's also this thing called ACDC--attack and collect, defend and collect. it's a dirty thing in the journalism world. a person pays a writer to attack someone, or to defend someone. when she was asked if she has experienced this, her reply was no. she explained the reason. she worked for betty go-belmonte, and betty go-belmonte had a reputation that she would never accept money for "dirty purposes." "as a consequence, nobody tried to bribe me," she ended the story with this line(or at least close to that line)

when she was aksed what her message is for aspiring writers, her only answer was READ!!! she even said that she reads everything, even cookbooks. i wrote a post about me being an aspiring writer, and now i know what i have to do. unfortunately, i don't enjoy reading that much.

some random facts/trivias:
her first language was chinese, then tagalog, then english
she said that betty go-belmonte did some bible-cutting
she doesn't accept calls when she's working(at least most of the time she's working)
she doesn;t like doing news articles because news articles have a certain format
she writes the way she talks

Amazing Race Asia 2 Finale

the last episode of Amazing Race Asia 2 made me sad somehow. team philippines, marc and rovilson came in third in the final leg of the race. the malaysian girls, pam and van came in second. adrian and collin made it, and came in first.

i have nothing against adrian and collin since they were a good team, a great one. but i really wanted marc and rovilson to win this race. they were a fantastic team bringing funny moments to the race. they were a humorous team. they were an intelligent one too. and no one can question their strength as a team. they have proven it since the start of the race.

they came in second in episode 1. and from episode 2 to episode 9, they came in first. they came in second for the next two episodes, and cam in first again in episode 12. unfortunately, they came in third in episode 13.

here are some of my opinions:
i think it was unfair for marc and rovilson, and pamela and vanessa that the race ended in singapore, for the simple reason that collin and adrian are from singapore. collin and adrian would have an advantage since it's their hometown. the people behind tara2 should have ended the race in any country except singapore, malaysia, and philippines. or they should have ended it in south africa.

i think the puzzle game was a great idea, even though it was the reason why marc and rovilson lost. but i think the concept was an excellent idea, especially the part where they must arrange the flags in the order they visited the countries. good job for whoever came up with that idea. but i think it would have been better if it was not the last challenge.

i think what marc and rovilson did at the multiple clue box challenge was amusing and an interesting strategy at the same time. and it impressed me that the singaporean team figured out that it was a show.

i just realized that the malaysian team, pamela and vanessa, was also a funny duo. i found this line funny, "We are going to win as long as Vanessa is not driving." this line was said by pamela, and it really amused me. i have seen their comic side before but it was really emphasized since episode 12.

i have many insights but it will take me time to write everything.

and i have a few things to say:

CONGRATULATIONS ADRIAN AND COLLIN FOR COMING IN FIRST IN THE AMAZING RACE ASIA SEASON 2!!

PAMELA AND VANESSA DID A GREAT JOB IN THE FINAL LEG OF THE RACE!

MARC AND ROVILSON WILL STILL BE THE STRONGEST TEAM OF THE AMAZING RACE ASIA 2! THEIR TEAM IS THE MOST LIKED TEAM! MANY PEOPLE SUPPORTED THEM! (35.3% of the people who have accounts in axn-asia.com voted the team of marc and rovilson as their favorite team, while 46.4% of the people believed they would win.)

Top 10 Most Expensive Music Videos

i remembered a while ago, really out of nowhere, that michael jackson owned the top spot for the most expensive music video when i last checked. so i decided to do another research.

i got this from: http://www.soyouwanna.com/site/toptens/musicvideos/musicvideos.html

When MTV launched on August 1, 1981, the first music video it played was "Video Killed the Radio Star" by The Buggles. What an awful video. In those days, all a music video needed was jiggly girls in bikinis, big hair, fast cars, and if you were lucky, jiggly girls with big hair driving fast cars. No huge costs, just a little something to complement the listening experience.

Then came along Michael Jackson's "Thriller" in 1983. "
Thriller" wasn't a music video, it was a full-fledged crotch-grabbing experience. At 14 minutes long, "Thriller" suddenly opened the doors of creativity, proving that a music video could be more about the video and less about the music. Today, companies will spend millions of dollars to make a 3-minute video (most of it spent on computer animation and huge sets). We are proud to present a list of opulent indulgence: the 10 most expensive music videos of all time.

To be fair, though, we've instituted some ground rules:

A group/artist can only appear once on the list. Known as the Michael Jackson Amendment, this rule makes the list a whole lot more interesting. But artists doing a one-time collaboration with others are fair game (allowing
Janet Jackson to pop up 3 times).

If the video is for a song from a movie, then it doesn't count. Otherwise, Celine Dion's warbling of "My Heart Will Go On" would win hands down (because it included expensive scenes from
Titanic). To qualify, the images in the video must have been created solely for that video.

Studios lie about how much they spend. They don't want to seem too wasteful, so our figures are probably a little off. But it's an interesting list anyway, so deal with it.

10. "Girlfriend/Boyfriend"Cost: $1,500,000+Artist: Blackstreet (featuring Janet Jackson)
This video is completely computer animated, taking place inside a pinball machine. The basic "plot" is that Blackstreet and Janet Jackson feel like pinballs, bouncing uncontrollably through their lives, when it's all really just a game. What made it so expensive? Well, computer animation ain't cheap, and neither is Janet Jackson (the same cannot be said about sibling Latoya . . .)

Janet's wardrobe: $10,000
Blackstreet's wardrobe: $25,000
Janet's travel costs: $50,000
Blackstreet's travel costs: $200,000
3-D animation costs: $600,000

9. "November Rain"Cost: $1,500,000+Artist: Guns N' Roses
An 11-minute video extravaganza, this video tells the supposed tale of singer Axl Rose and model Stephanie Seymour
getting married, having a party, and living out their lives together until death. And all it took was 11 minutes? . . . A classy video that combines storytelling with live concert performances, Guns N' Roses actually paid for the video themselves, to insure that it looked as they envisioned.

Renting a symphony orchestra: $25,000
Specially constructed chapel: $150,000
Wedding dress: $8,000
Specially constructed coffin: $8,000

8. "Unpretty"Cost: $1,600,000+Artist: TLC
While their video "Waterfalls" was technologically more groundbreaking, "Unpretty" ended up costing more because the group argued over every little detail (almost doubling the projected cost). The story of the video starts out with women in a plastic surgeon's office contemplating
breast implants, but they somehow get involved in a gang fight in a back alley. All the while, TLC sits on these weirdo floating pods while doing yoga chants. Nobody said these videos have to make sense . . .
Floating yoga pods: $60,000
Field of purple flowers: $50,000
Laptop computer animating breast enhancements: $63,000
Flying robot
camera: $35,000
Hairstyling: $11,000
Makeup: $25,000
Costumes: $11,000

7. "She's a Bitch"Cost: $2,000,000+Artist: Missy Elliot
For some videos, you have no idea where the money went. What made it cost so much? Greedy accountant skim off the top? Tons of footage never used? Missy Elliot's "She's a Bitch" is a perfect example of such confusion. A rap song that essentially features Miss Missy mugging for the
camera in a rubber body suit (or dancing on an M-shaped stage with her Missy-ettes), how this video ended up costing $2 mil is a mystery.

Missy Elliot's rubber wardrobe: $10,500
Glow-in-the-dark cape: $3,500
M-shaped stage: $30,000
Silver suits for the extras: $12,000
Total set: $850,000
Makeup: $6,000
Special effects for a stormy sky: $20,000

6. "Miami"Cost: $2,000,000+Artist: Will Smith
Will Smith is notorious for spending googobs on his
music videos, especially because they often serve the dual purpose of promoting his movies. The video to "Wild Wild West" cost $3 million alone, and the video to "Men In Black" is also up there. Of course, such videos aren't allowed placement on our list, but they go to show that Will Smith is no stranger to spending money on his videos. For "Miami," Smith chose to follow the ever-popular path of using computer morphing techniques, sending the budget sky-rocketing. The entire video consists of the Fresh Prince morphing from location to location (we counted at least 40 morphs), and each morph costs about $14,000. The sad thing is, the song ain't that great.

Private jet rental: $15,000
Each morph transition: $14,000 (and there were least 40 of these)
Floating Miami set: $500,000
Models: $10,000
Choreography: $200,000

5. "Larger Than Life" Cost: $2,100,000+Artist: Backstreet Boys
Fine, fine, they're all hotties. No use denying it. But unlike their competitor über-boybands *NSync and 98°, the Backstreet Boys are actually pretty good (they were even nominated for a Grammy for their second smash album, "Millennium," proving that they have industry respect). The Backstreet Boys made more money in 1999 than any other entertainer, $66 million, so dropping $2 mil on a video is chump change. In "Larger Than Life," the story is that the B-Boys are space-fighting robots in some bizarro Star Wars meets Voltron cyberworld. Replete with computer animation and special effects, it doesn't make much sense but it looks pretty cool.

Cryogenic chamber model: $20,000
Flying
surfboard scene at beginning: $90,000
3-D animated models: $45,000
Robot
costumes for the B-Boys: $56,000
Exterior shot of the space station: $70,000
Dance stage: $80,000
The cost to fly the crew to the set: $150,000
Director's fee: $150,000 (for just 4 days of shooting)
Total special effects: $600,000

4. "What's It Gonna Be" Cost: $2,400,000+Artist: Busta Rhymes (featuring Janet Jackson)
A tremendously
cool video involving tons of special effects that Busta Rhymes co-directed. The story involves Busta (as some kind of morphy glass creature) hookin' up with Janet (also a morphy glass creature). They sing, they morph, they sing, and they morph a little more, and at the end of the video, they both explode into little glass shards. Gross. But in a good way.
The visuals are reminiscent of movies like The Abyss and
Terminator 2: Judgment Day in which a humanoid creature is able to change its appearance, yet still appear completely believable. In "What's It Gonna Be," Janet and Busta are constantly mushing around each other, sometimes transparent (like glass), sometimes reflective (like mirrors). Believe us, you can see where the $2.4 million went.

Virtual set: $100,000
Each morph: $30,000 (boy, did these add up . . .)
Busta's glass costume: $40,000
Janet and Busta's explosion: $20,000

3. "Heartbreaker"Cost: $2,500,000+Artist: Mariah Carey
Here's a video that makes almost no sense. Mariah starts out on a movie date with B-level star Jerry O'Connell, when some hoodlums start throwing popcorn at them. To escape the trauma, Mariah runs to the bathroom, where she encounters her evil twin (portrayed by Mariah in a black wig). Good Mariah and Evil Mariah start getting all Jackie Chan on each other, when they turn into cartoons. Then the video ends.
Much like
Missy Elliot's "She's a Bitch," we have no idea why this video turned out to be so expensive. We can only suspect that the first version stunk, so they probably did some re-shooting. We would've hated to see the first version, though.

Movie theater rental: $100,000
Mansion rental (in the movie): $40,000
Hairstyling: $13,000
Dog and its trainer: $6,000
Fight coordinator: $7,000
Animation: $80,000
Jerry O'Connell's cameo fee: $10,000

2. "Victory"Cost: $2,700,000+Artist:
Puff Daddy (featuring Notorious B.I.G. & Busta Rhymes)
"Victory," like 5 others of the videos on this list, is a
rap video, and what a rap video "Victory" is. It has everything, including exploding airplanes, suicidal leaps from buildings, helicopters, and shootouts. Like much of Puff Daddy's repertoire, this video is about a man's escape from the police who are wrongly accusing him of a crime. As P.D. runs across the city's rooftops, a bunch of snobs in a party look out the window at the ensuing action, obviously wishing that they had such excitement in their lives. And playing through the background of the entire video is an opera aria that lends the entire video a dramatic flair. While it may not have much computer animation, this video definitely has a "movie feel" to it; this level of detail is what makes the video cost so much, and seem so cool.

Building an airplane and blowing it up: $55,000
Pyrotechnic special effects: $100,000
Artificial rain: $10,000
Helicopter rental: $21,000
Stuntman fee: $5,000 per jump from building to building
Security on the set: $10,000

1. "Scream"Cost: $7,000,000+Artist: Michael Jackson (featuring Janet Jackson)
Michael Jackson's videos have always been ridiculously expensive. In 1983, he spent $800,000 on "Thriller," which would be about $1.4 million today. But remember that before "Thriller," no one even came close to spending that kind of money, and he had to do it with limited technological capabilities. As technology improved, Jacko's videos became more expensive, spending over $1.2 million on "Black or White" in 1992, and even more on "Remember The Time." But if he can keep an oxygen chamber, a petting zoo, the Elephant Man's bones, and an entire plastic surgery team in his mansion, it's certainly no biggie to drop another $7 mil on a video with his sister.
"Scream's" $7,000,000 price tag is more than twice as much as the next most expensive music video (
Puff Daddy's "Victory" at $2.7 million), and it's easy to see why: he spent $5 million alone on 11 sets. Yet while watching the video, it all seems incredibly wasteful, not coming close to the film quality of "Thriller", "November Rain," or "Victory."

Computer-generated spaceship: $65,000
Breaking guitars: $53,000

'

watch it too!! it's great!

Valentine's Day

since it's valentine's day tomorrow, i did a litlle research about it.

here's what i found: (taken form http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Valentine)

Saint Valentine (in Latin, Valentinus) is the name of several martyred saints of ancient Rome. Of the Saint Valentine whose feast is on February 14, nothing is known except his name and that he was buried at the Via Flaminia north of Rome on February 14. It is even uncertain whether the feast of that day celebrates only one saint or two or more saints of the same name. For this reason this liturgical commemoration was not kept in the Roman Catholic calendar of saints for universal liturgical veneration as revised in 1969. Traditional Roman Catholics continue to venerate St. Valentine on his feast day, February 14.
In the
Eastern Orthodox Church, Saint Valentine is celebrated on 6 July.
The name "Valentine" does not occur in the earliest
list of Roman martyrs, which was compiled by the Chronographer of 354. The feast of St. Valentine was first established in 496 by Pope Gelasius I, who included Valentine among those "... whose names are justly reverenced among men, but whose acts are known only to God." As Gelasius implied, nothing was known, even then, about the lives of any of these martyrs. The Saint Valentine that appears in various martyrologies in connection with 14 February is described either as:

A
priest in Rome

A
bishop of Interamna (modern Terni)

A martyr in the Roman province of
Africa.

The name "Valentine", derived from valens (worthy), was popular in late antiquity.
Various dates are given for the martyrdom or martyrdoms: 269, 270, or 273.
The official
Roman Martyrology for February 14 mentions only one Saint Valentine.
English eighteenth-century antiquarian
Alban Butler and Francis Douce, noting the obscurity of Saint Valentine's identity, suggested Valentine's Day was created as an attempt to supersede the pagan holiday of Lupercalia. This idea has lately been contested by Professor Jack Oruch of the University of Kansas. Many of the current legends that characterise Saint Valentine were invented in the fourteenth century in England, notably by Geoffrey Chaucer and his circle, when the feast day of February 14 first became associated with romantic love.

it is very evident that i only copied it. but i cited the reference anyway, so i guess it's legal. hahaha!

Free Ride

i met up with my sister a while ago since it's her last day here. then when she decided to go home, she asked me if i would ride a cab. i told her i would take the train.

but i couldn't seem to find the right exit. i asked the guards but all of them kept pointing to different directions. one even told me the directions to reach a dead end. after some time, i felt tired after all the walking i did. i decided to take a cab in the end.

i was on the cab line when a lady recognized my uniform. she said her children are studying in the same school. during the conversation, she asked me where i was going to. after some chatting, we both fell silent.

after some time, she suggested that we both ride the same cab, since she would pass the same direction. so i agreed. she was really a nice lady. we talked a little more in the cab. when i arrived in my destination, i tried giving her money for the cab ride, but she didn't want to take it. i asked her not only once, but she really didn't want to accept it. so i thanked her. i mean i am really grateful for her kindness and generosity.

while walking to the cab line, i was worrying about the money i would spend for the cab. i don;t have much money now because of all the projects and stuff, so i got worried i would be spending a huge amount again. luckily this lady came. she was an "angel in disguise". i got home safely without spending. :D

to the very kind lady a while ago(there's a little chance she would read this, but i'll say it anyway), thank you very much.

Hello, Goodbye

my sister arrived yesterday morning. but she's leaving 3:00 am tomorrow. i was not able to spend much time with her since i had(i still have to) to go to school. so i decided to put "Hello, Goodbye" as the title.

here's one story:

my sister told me that she would be here by sunday, but she told everyone else that she would be here monday. she asked me not to tell anyone that she would arrive sunday. so when sunday came, i waited for her to call. it was already noon, and i still didn;t receive a call from her. i decided to text her. then she replied that she made a mistake. she thought she would be here by sunday but she was actually scheduled to arrive here monday. i waited for nothing.

monday, she told me to call her after dismissal. so i did, only to find out that she already had plans and she would just meet me at home. but she called me and told me she was at a certain place, so i went there.

it's sad that she's already leaving. i hope she could spend more time here.

Final Three

The final 3 in The Amazing Race Asia 2

Marc and Rovilson from the Philippines

Adrian and Collin from Singapore

Pamela and Vanessa from Malaysia

adrian and collin had a big lead but they lost it. because of doing some things, they lost so much time, giving the other teams the chance to catch up, especially marc and rovilson. marc and rovilson were first to pit stop. adrian and collin were second. pamela and vanessa came in third.

the challenges were great. they had to get their clues from a clue box located in the middle of a field where tigers were roaming around. they had to get rid of elephants' dung. pamela and vanessa even used their hands, instead of using the "small spades", to speed things up. they were the only ones who did it. they also had to complete 8 laps in a race track. they must complete the first four laps within a limited time, or the team would get a 5 minute penalty. only the team of marc and rovilson made it within the time limit. the other three teams experiences the 5-minute delay. they also did things for charity. by completing the painting task, the teams were able to give $5,000 to the caretakers.

the other malaysian team got eliminated. they were not well-liked by the other teams.

i am now looking forward for the last episode.

Painting

my friends and i went to the house of another friend yesterday.

i tried to do a little painting yesterday. i have no artisitic bone in my body but i gave it a shot anyway. it's nice to try some new things in one's life.

i had fun. a classmate of mine drew the outline, and started painting it. he was not satisfied so i had a chance to try painting it. he didn;t want to continue it anymore, so i tried making it better. i am in no position to say if it became better.

but i enjoyed it. i was laughing at my own "creation". my classmate drew a human face. iturned it into a bloody alien/elf thing.

according to wikipedia, on the first tribal council, Jon Dalton was voted out. out of ten members of the tribe, 9 people wanted him out. he voted for Ozzy of survivor cook islands.

the second timers have great stories, stories that happened on their first attempt to win the million dollars.

at this point, i already have a person in mind. i want this person to win this game. clue: he/she belongs to malakal tribe. something happened during his/her first attempt to win a million dollars. because of the incident, i now want him/her to win.

thanks to wikipedia.org, i was able to post this.

Outside The Hospital Walls

my classmate, kristoff went to school today. he didn't come to school for a week.

he had a mysterious disease. we all thought it was dengue, but he told me a while ago that it wasn't. therefore, i want to call it a mysterious disease.

he didn't want poeple to visit him, so that isolated him from other people for quite some time. given this, i'm guessing he got close with the doctors, nurses, and his family in the hospital. he didn't want any visitors, so that left him with the people inside the hospital. it is human nature to interact with people given some situations, so that made me think he got close with the people there. :D

he also got tired of drinking water. i got shocked when he said this. i always see him buy at least a bottle of water everyday. he likes water so much, so it puzzled me when he said he got tired of drinking water.

he's fine now. he's back to normal(normal?? hahahaha). so i must say, "welcome back to the real world." in this post, real world=outside the hospital walls.

sad part-- he needs to catch up on many things. most of them are school related.

trivia: he is now part of a band. the band will have its first gig next week. he's in-charge of the guitar, and vocals(i think).

Excited About Things

i am now looking forward to many things- not a single one involving studies.

i am excited about the concert. it will be my first time to see a live major concert. i am now almost 100% sure i will be in Ne-yo's concert.

my sister is also coming on monday(or sunday). i can't remember when i last saw her. it's not long ago, but i still can't remember. hahaha i already bought a gift for her. i wrapped it already. it's not useful but she can display it in her room; and since she likes decorating her place, the gift i bought must do just fine.

i am also excited about the release of the album of eyeshine. i am still not sure when they will release it, but i am already excited. i just hope i will be able to own a copy. i hope they will release it here.

i am also waiting for the release of some movies, although there's a movie which i think will not be shown here. it's a great movie. it's an action film, and i already saw the trailers. the stunts done in the movie are perfect.

i am also getting excited about the people who leave their comments here. some of them are people i don't personally know. but i am grateful to them because they leave their comments here. to all the visitors of this blog please leave your comments. thank you. :D

there are many other things i am excited about.

A Big Thank You

i wish to thank Mrs. Christine Bersola-Babao for allowing us to put her on the "Spotlight On Filipino Authors."

SOFA=project in school.

we sent her an e-mail containing our questions, and she sent us an e-mail with the answers. even though she had a busy schedule, she still took time to help us with our project. the original plan was to interview her face-to-face. but due to her hectic schedule, we were not able to do the live interview.

she recently won an award--Most Admired Female TV Personality. CONGRATULATIONS!!

she had written three books--children's books. one of the books she wrote was about her own childhood.

i will post the interview next time.

Not A Happy Day

my day yesterday was not a good one.

i left the house early but i had to go back to get my other bag for PE. i already saw an empty cab, but i had to go back to our house. after that i couldn't find a cab anymore. it was officially a cab day yesterday.

it didn't end there. i was late for school again. i might get a sanction for tardiness. now i'm on the line of commiting the first offense in my whole high school life, which by the way is not cool at all.

then i got low marks in our tests. and we had a lot of projects to do.

then someone made things worse. he just doesn't recognize his limitations. there's a line drawn already but he just doesn't recognize it. the rules are set, but he doesn't follow the rules. i was already in a bad condition yesterday, and one certain person made everything worse.

it just wasn't my day.

but i survived. i made it through the day. i am very fine now. GOOD FOR ME!! hahahaha

Maroon 5 And Ne-Yo In Manila

i am hoping i will be able to go to these concerts, Maroon 5 and Ne-yo.

i was able to get the prices of the tickets for Ne-yo's concert.

General Admission-578
Upper B-893
Upper A-1943
Lower-3570
Patron-3570
Patron Vip-4568

i was also able to see the prices for the concert of Maroon 5. but the prices are way higher than the ones listed above. a patron ticket costs more than 10000.

it will be great if i can watch both shows. but due to "financial difficulties", i don't think it's possible. between the 2, i think there's a bigger chance that i will be able to see Ne-yo's concert. and it was the original plan anyway. when i first heard that ne-yo would be coming, i asked permission already.

if i will be able to see this, it will be my first time to see a major concert. yes people, i have never been to a major concert. i know that's not good at all, but what can i do?

i will save up for this concert(s)--if possible.

TV Shows

i am watching again some tv shows.

Survivor Amazon, Survivor Cook Islands, The Amazing Race Asia 2, and House M.D.

Survior Amazon and Cook Islands are two seasos that i still enjoy watching up to now. these two are my favorites. the challenges, castaways, everything was somehow perfect. i also enjoyed watching the alliances of people, voting out of other castaways, how one person can betray his/her teammates to earn something, how people make deals with fellow players.

The Amazing Race Asia 2 is also fun to watch. but it's sad that the thai girls, paula and natasha were eliminated already. those two girls were amusing in a sense they never fought, took care of each other, supported each other, respected each other, understood the strengths and weaknesses of each others, etc. but the race is still on. with four teams left, who will make it to the final three, and who will be first in the last stop?

House M. D. is one fantastic show, the actors and actresses are great. i like the comedy part the best, especially when Doctor Gregory House speaks in his sarcastic self. i am a huge fan of the show. i am just waiting for the release of the DVD of House season 4. House is currently airing but it's better to watch it all at once. ^_^ this show is entertaining.

Radioactive

we just had our annual fair. it was my last fair.

it was fun considering the fact that 98% of the time, i was working. i was part of one of the fair commitees. i had shifts for the free drinks booth--the shiftings were not followed which made things a little complicated. during the times i wasn't in the booth, i was delivering food and drinks to people, or i was at the "headquarters" guarding stuff.

by the way, the commitee i was in was involved with the food and drinks.

i just hope i wasn't sick during the fair. i was still able to enjoy. i was even able to ride the "octopus"--i'm just a kid!! hahahahahahaha!!

i was also able to enjoy the freebies--food and drinks. since we were in charge, we had little access on the food, but a somehow huge access on the drinks.

the tickets for the fair=sold out! so i guess it was a successful one.

and about the title--radioactive was the name of the fair.
