Welcome Backs

i am so amazed and amused because my sister, who's in Qatar, and my friend, who's in Malaysia are coming here.

my sister will arrive on Saturday, December 13.

my friend will arrive on Tuesday, December 16.

i hope i'll be able to spend time with them.

Success

i was able to answer a math porblem a while ago. it's somehow a big deal(for me) since i have no idea what my teacher was talking about(i really can't understand our lesson now). i think it's pure luck. it's not even a test, but i'm still happy i got the correct answer.

i hope i will also be able to answer the problems on our long test next week.

Math Problems

this is not just about finding x, or looking for the derivatives of some functions.

i got a low score in our long test. i passed, but i got a low score.

and i am now really confused with our math lessons. i really can't understand the lessons.

and i know i have to step it up if i still want to be in "the game". but it's just hard.

Pacquiao VS De La Hoya

Manny Pacquiao won!! woohoo.

ang i found an article about the fight on the Yahoo! homepage.

ROUND 1
De La Hoya closed as a 2-1 favorite. De La Hoya is minus-200 and Pacquiao is plus-170. The over-under is 9½ rounds. Pacquiao comes out with a slight weight advantage tonight. On the unofficial HBO scales, he weighed 148½ and De La Hoya was 147. De La Hoya is the aggressor early, but nothing lands in the first minute. Straight left from Pacquiao and then a combination from Pacquiao connects. Lead left by Pacquiao. Right to the body by Oscar. Manny misses a big hook. Straight left by Pacquiao. Combination to the head by De La Hoya backs Pacquiao up. Right by Oscar connects. Straight left by Manny.
Iole scores it 10-9, Pacquiao

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ROUND 2
Lead right by De La Hoya and a right hook from Pacquiao. Double jab by De La Hoya. Pacquiao is circling away. Combination from Oscar but doesn’t land flush. Combination to the body by De La Hoya. Right-left from Pacquiao. De La Hoya’s face is reddened from the punches. Pacquiao left lands and then an uppercut. Lead left by Pacquiao keeps getting through. Difference in hand speed is stark. Hard jab and then a left by Pacquiao. Lead left by Pacquiao.
Iole scores it 10-9, Pacquiao.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ROUND 3
Lead left from Pacquiao to open the round connects. De La Hoya has to stop that. De La Hoya is doing nothing offensively in first minute of round. Pacquiao flicks a jab that is short. Right to the head and left to the body from De La Hoya. Lead left again by Pacquiao. Left to the body from Pacquiao. Oscar seems befuddled. Right hook to the body from Pacquiao.
Iole scores it 10-9, Pacquiao

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ROUND 5
De La Hoya connects with a jab, but first 30 seconds of round are very slow. They’re circling but not throwing much. Pacquiao lands a right hook. Triple jab from Pacquiao. Combination from Pacquiao backs De La Hoya up. The way this is going, it wouldn’t be a shock if De La Hoya were to quit on the stool at some point. He’s taking a tremendous amount of punishment. Body shot by Oscar lands and then two lefts. Oscar’s left eye is closing. He looks like a beaten, old and shot fighter.
Iole scores it 10-9, Pacquiao

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ROUND 6
Nothing happens in first minute of round. Pacquiao lands left to body and a left to the cheek. They trade in the corner and Pacquiao gets the best of it. Straight left from Pacquiao lands. Hard straight left by Pacquiao snaps Oscar’s head back. De La Hoya’s left eye is a mess. Right by Pacquiao lands on that eye. This may be stopped soon by the corner.
Iole scores it 10-9, Pacquiao

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ROUND 7
Lead right by De La Hoya lands to open the round. Pacquiao rakes De La Hoya with a three-punch combination. Double jab by Manny. Pacquiao batters De La Hoya into the corner. He’s pinned on the ropes and Pacquiao is firing away. Fight is close to ending. Pacquiao is hitting De La Hoya hard with everything he throws. Oscar is in big, big trouble. Left to the body by Pacquiao hurts Oscar. Oscar has never been beaten like this in any of his 44 previous fights. Pacquiao is overwhelming him.
Iole scores it 10-8, Pacquiao

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ROUND 8
Pacquiao goes to the body and is warned by referee Tony Weeks to keep them up. Lead right by Oscar connects. Combination by Pacquiao pins Oscar in the corner. Lead left by Pacquiao buzzes De La Hoya. Combination wobbles him in the corner. Double jab by Pacquiao. Combination by Pacquiao lands. De La Hoya goes to the body. Four-punch combination by Pacquiao lands and hurts Oscar.
Iole scores it 10-9, Pacquiao

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ROUND 9
Fight is stopped just as the round is set to begin. Manny Pacquiao is the winner. Official time is 3:00 of the eighth.

X-Men Movie

Will 'X-Men' Fans Accept a 'Gossip Girl' Script?by Matt McDaniel    November 20, 2008 Professor X and Magneto. Wolverine and Sabretooh. Serena and Blair?

It was announced on Wednesday that Josh Schwartz, the creator of the TV teen dramas "The O.C." and "Gossip Girl," will be writing "X-Men: First Class," another installment of the superhero franchise. Variety reports that the new film will focus on the students at the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning, rather than the adults like Wolverine and Storm.
On paper the deal seems to make sense: Schwartz is a writer with a proven track record for soapy high school angst; the comic book was originally envisioned by Stan Lee to be focused on mutant teenagers and their issues; and assembling the actors from the first three films has likely become too complicated and expensive to do again. But will the younger-skewing take alienate the true fans?
The previous movie, 2006's "X-Men: The Last Stand," was the most financially successful of the series, bringing in over $234 million in the U.S. Some fans of the comic book, however, weren't happy with the liberties the script took with the source material. Harry Knowles of Ain't It Cool News spoke out on how the "Dark Phoenix" story from the book was shortchanged in the movie, writing, "I truly truly truly hate how they treated it." Others took exception to how major characters were killed off without much fanfare. David Cornelius at efilmcritic.com went so far as to call it "one of the very worst comic book films ever made."
So will Josh Schwartz's "First Class" franchise reboot push the core fanbase further away? It's difficult to say just yet. While he gained more notoriety for his shows about the rich and spoiled, Schwartz also co-created the geek-turned-spy series "Chuck," which is peppered with allusions to comics and sci-fi movies. And even if the fans reject this particular title, the franchise is branching out into other directions that might please them more.
Opening next year's summer movie season is "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," a prequel with Hugh Jackman returning to his breakout role. It will tell the story of how the mutant Logan was transformed into the metal-clawed superhero, with Liev Schreiber stepping into the role of his nemesis, Sabretooth. A brief montage of footage was shown at the San Diego Comic Con this past July to great applause. There was also a quick shot of Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, another Marvel Comics character that may get his own spin-off movie.
Also in development is "Magneto," another "X-Men Origins" film about the early days of Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr before the two friends became enemies. David S. Goyer, the co-writer of "Batman Begins," is on board to direct, but no cast has been announced. Ian McKellen, who so memorably played the villain in the first three "X-Men" movies, said he is unlikely to return for that movie, joking with Empire Online that, "I don't think I could get away with playing a 19-year-old."
Still, as a big fan of director Bryan Singer's first two "X-Men" movies, I personally hold out hope that a teen-oriented "First Class" flick will still deliver. Some of the most affecting moments in those movies were centered on the younger characters. The scene where Rogue (Anna Paquin) nearly kills her first kiss with her mutation or when Iceman (Shawn Ashmore) shows his parents his abilities got to the heart of the dilemma that's been a part of the X-Men stories from the beginning. With any luck, Josh Schwartz will turn in a script that's more "X" than "CW."

Difference

i found this article interesting because it some how explains why some people find it difficult to get up in the morning.

The Truth Behind Night Owls and Morning People
By: Brie Cadman (View Profile)

I used to work with one of my roommates and getting up in the morning and heading to our job proved to be one of the most trying times in our friendship. I was up with the alarm clock and onto my morning routine, whereas she would stay in bed well past the ringing. Convinced we would be late, I’d go in and give her some gentle nudging, which never went over well. She’d grumble and complain; sometimes she’d hurl insults like “Leave me alone,” or “I hate you,” or simply, “Die.” Offended, I’d sulk away, even more convinced of our impending tardiness. Later on, over a strong cup of coffee, she’d apologize and we’d have a good laugh, only for the same routine to be repeated the following morning.

Get Up by Your Own CLOCK
As it turns out, our sleeping preferences weren’t just due to the fact that I responded better to the alarm. The circadian rhythm, a 24.1-hour period that dictates the sleep-wake cycle, differs among people and can influence whether we are a night owl or a morning lark.

Studies have indicated that self-described morning people have shorter circadian rhythms than self-identified night owls. This means that morning people sleep through their peak hour of sleepiness, so they wake up feeling refreshed. Evening types usually wake up right around their peak hour of sleepiness, so they may have high levels of melatonin and feel groggy. No wonder it’s tough to rouse them.

Hormones and body temperature also differ between the sleep groups. Early birds have higher levels of cortisol in the morning, which may give them the perky edge. Body temperature tends to be low in the morning, peaks in the late afternoon, and decreases until bedtime. Early risers have a body temperature peak around 3:30 p.m., while night owls are hottest around 8 p.m.

Our sleep preferences are at least in part hereditary. Differences in the CLOCK gene (short for Circadian Locomotor Output Cycles Kaput), for instance, may contribute to differences in our favored times of activity. Sleep researchers at Stanford University found that people with one genotype had an increased preference for eveningness, while the other genotype had an increased preference for morningness.

Biology and Behavior
Though our sleeping and waking preferences may be partially innate, some are due to what we’re used to from childhood, the seasons, or what we’ve adapted to. This means we can—and do—change our sleeping patterns.

For instance, during the summer, when daylight hours are plenty, we may stay up later but rise earlier with the sun. In the winter, darkness and cold sets in early, making our beds all that much more alluring. It’s also harder to wake early in the winter when it’s dark out.

Age also alters our sleeping patterns. Different times in our lives lend themselves to different sleeping patterns. During the teens, for instance, hormones may change the sleep and wake patterns, and this is one explanation as to why so many teens tend to shift to a night owl schedule. (Socializing, studying, and busy schedules also contribute.) Alternatively, as people get older, work and familial demands tend to make people more morning focused, regardless of their preferences. Later in life, in the sixties and seventies, people tend to need less sleep altogether.

In Sleep as in Life?
In reality, however, few of us are true morning people who can effortlessly bound out of bed at five or six in the morning; likewise die-hard night owls are also rare. Researchers estimate that extremes comprise about 10 to 20 percent of the population, with the rest of us falling somewhere on the intermediate spectrum. And in fact, the majority of us prefer a common point in the 24-hour continuum: daytime.

Song:Kryptonite

This is my favorite song now. i just like the song. :D

the title of the song is Kryptonite.

I'm trying to save us girl...
They got that...
They got that kryptonite...

[Verse 1:]
It seems the more I try to do right,
The more I lie about being at sessions and leaving at certain times,
She's like, "Where you at?"
I'm at the studio at home,
and I'm thinking to myself we cut that record days ago.
Cause shorty on the east side, hit me and want to know if I could stop by,
Now I'm comtemplating what I am gonna say, bout this being the umpteenth time that Im late.

[Chorus:]
I wanna be your superman,
I'm trying to save our love the best way that I can,
Cause these girls they're like kryptonite,
These girls my kryptonite,
These girls got kryptonite,
These girls my kryptonite,
And I really wanna make it work, but I cant stop messing round,
Out here dirt,
Cause these girls they're like kryptonite,
These girls my kryptonite,
These girls got kryptonite,
These girls my kryptonite,
Oh baby.

[Verse 2:]
It's like the more I brush them off, the more they call,
The more I want to tell them that I'm not involved,
With anyone, when I know it's you,
Wanna tell the truth but it's just so hard to do,
Caught up in me again it's driving me crazy
It's the reason I won't tell em i got a lady,
Now I'm trying to contemplate on what I am gonna say, on this being the umpteenth time that Im late.

[Bridge:]
No matter what I do, I know that your my true love,
But I just cant help it to get caught up with all these broads,
Sittin here with this mic in my hand,
Trying to record the words to make my baby understand.

[Chorus:]
I wanna be your superman,
I'm trying to save our love the best way that I can,
Cause these girls they're like kryptonite,
These girls my kryptonite,
These girls got kryptonite,
These girls my kryptonite,
And I really wanna make it work, but I cant stop messing round,
Out here doing dirt,
Cause these girls they're like kryptonite,
These girls my kryptonite,
These girls got kryptonite,
These girls my kryptonite,
Oh baby.

oooh yeah yeah

[Verse 3:]
I want you to be my louis lane,
Girl I promise I'm gonna change, and it aint gonna be this way forever,
Girl I'm gonna get myself together, cause your the one I love,
Because your like a drug that I can't get enough of,
I'm just so confused, dont know what to do,
Cause the way that it's feeling, I like how it's feeling,
It's getting so hard, to fight that feeling.

[Rap: Rich Boy]
I'm a rich boy riding in my big superstar shit,
The one girls try to get they text me on my sidekick
Bring em to my palace, tell em take it off we make a flick,
Every night I do it so at least one chick I gotta get
Just like kryptonite them girls make me super weak,
Suck my dick and play with me until they put me straight to sleep,
Twenty girls on my sheets, seven days out the week,
It's hard trying to hold it down with groupies trying to get with me,
I stay dreaming, fantasizing, with my eyes closed,
I love you girl but I'm addicted to them hoes
If ballin is a sin then God please forgive me,
My women so bad and my money so filthy really.

[Chorus: x2]
I wanna be your superman,
I'm trying to save our love the best way that I can,
Cause these girls they're like kryptonite,
These girls my kryptonite,
These girls got kryptonite,
These girls my kryptonite,
And I really wanna make it work, but I cant stop messing round,
Out here doing dirt,
Cause these girls they're like kryptonite,
These girls my kryptonite,
These girls got kryptonite,
These girls my kryptonite

Bob's Idol

i saw the latest episode of survivor gabon and i was amazed by how real bob's fake idol looked like. he was sent to exile isalnd but the idol wasn't there anymore, so he created one to try to deceive the others. because of the merge, he was safe so he didn't use the idol. but it looked real. he must have spent hours to make that fake idol.

he's already old but he's still fighting. and i think he's the only good guy left.

Obama Video Game

i just found out a while ago that Obama has a video game. it will serve as the ultimate tribute for his win. i am still not sure if it's true, but if it is.....WOW! never expected that one.

Last

It's my last day in qatar now. i have one last day to enjoy this place before i go back to the philippines.

i wasn't able to see the whole of Qatar, but i was able to see enough places here. i was even able to watch the sun rise a while ago. we went to this place called sea line and we took pictures there while the sun was rising. we woke up 4 in the morning just to see that.

we went home and slept again after that. then we went to this place called souq, then to the city center(a mall). then we went to a few more places, then went back home. i wasn't able to buy anything.

i still have one last day to enjoy this place. (and i hope i will not spend this day fixing my stuff)

Game VS Passion

i watched a bowling tournament a while ago. most, if not all the participants were Filipinos. i think they all know each other.

i wasn't able to watch the entire game because i was busy watching stuff in the Internet and talking to a friend. the main idea of the whole conversation is finding my passion.

it all started will the bowling tournament. i told him everyone was good and he said something about they should because they are passionate about it(something like that). then i realized that after 18 years of existence here on earth, i still haven't found my passion. he said i have until graduation to figure out what my passion is. so i still have three and a half years to figure things out.

there are many things i want to do in my life. but i still don't now what my real passion is.

my friend also said that i still i don't have to worry about it YET!! but if i still fail to figure it out after three years, then i should start worrying. (I'm already worried.)

Multiply

i now have a multiply site. people have been asking me to make a new one so...yeah!

Something New

i left the Philippines to see something new.

since it's sembreak, my sister asked me if i wanted to go to Qatar. i said yes. so i fixed some stuff and within the next two days after the arrangements, i was in a plane going to Qatar. it's really kinda surreal. it seems like everything happened so fast. i didn't even have a passport a week ago. (yes this is the first time i went somewhere far from the Philippines.)2 days after i got my passport, i found myself here.

the flight was nine hours. i slept for two hours. i watched Home Alone, half of The Happening, first part of Hancock, one episode of Friends, the first part of the last episode of House M.D. season 4, played Battleship, and Who Wants to be a Millionaire.

i was looking outside while the plane was landing, and i noticed something. i was thinking this place was 70-80% sand. but after i got out of the airport, it was different.

FIRST DAY

my first day here is really surreal. it was 11:00 am here when i arrived. my sister was there to welcome me to Doha, Qatar. then we went to a Thai restaurant(and the only thing i know about in Thailand is PAULA TAYLOR, and Natasha Monks--amazing race Asia contestants.)then we went here--her friend's house--because i will be staying here throughout my stay here. then we went to her place, then to another friend's place, then to a mall where we ate dinner and watched a MOVIE...

MOVIE--i was asleep during the first part of the movie. it wasn't because of jet lag or something, i think it's the total lack of sleep. the movie started 11:30 PM. a few minutes after i sat, i was off to dreamland. then i was sent back to the real world and i saw that the movie had already started--i didn't even see the trailers. the title of the movie was Taken. it's an action/thriller movie.

we went home after the movie. we got home around 2 am and by 3 am i was off again to dreamland.

SECOND DAY
we went to another mall. it's called the Villaggio. it's a cool mall. it's like a kingdom. they also have this man-made river where you can ride a boat. maybe i'll try that next time we go there.

we only did two things there: Shop and Eat

THIRD DAY
i am already on my third day here. i'm kinda stuck here because my sister is in the office right now so i'm here making a semi-long blog post which i haven't done in a looooooong time. we'll go somewhere later. i'm not really sure where.

i haven't seen much of Qatar. honestly the only sites i've seen so far are construction sites. :D but i still have a few more days here, and i'm looking forward to seeing different places.

Bad News

Katee Shean got injured. and people say that she will not be performing on the following stops of the tour.

joshua dropped katee during their contemporary routine--hometown glory by adele. in this video, you can actually see the "falling" part. if you haven't seen the real performance, i don't think you'll be able to distinguish if it was an accident or a part of the routine.

i think most of the dance routines on the tour has katee in it. so if katee will not perform anymore, the line-up of the dance routines will have some big changes.

Step Up 3

i have watched step up around four times and step up 2 around six times in less than one week. i'm addicted to the step-ups all of a sudden which is weird.

i am already excited for step up 3. it's entitled "Step Up 3: Don't Stop" (if i'm not mistaken.) i am not even sure about this because i read it somewhere that it's still unconfirmed....so there.

if there will be a step up 3, i'll be sure to watch it on its opening day. YEAH!!

Hopes

i had a dream last night. i received my report card and i got a high average grade. i hope this turns to a reality.

and i got a call from someone today. if everything goes right, one of my plans for this break will push through. i hope to god this "thing' happens!!!

Survivor Gabon

i haven't been able to watch the new season of survivor. i was able to watch the first episode, and i haven't seen the other episodes. i was somehow shocked when i found out who had left the competition after the first episode. i think i need to watch the previous episodes to find out why paloma was voted out. i thought she was going to stay for a while.

The Seminar

i had a great time during the seminar. there were lots of activities, but there were more free time--time to enjoy, have fun, meet new people, bond with the other people, and do whatever you want to do.

the theme of the seminar was survivor, one of my favorite TV shows. :D

it wasn't all fun. we did some work too. plans were presented and evaluations were done.

but the activities were more enjoyable. :D i participated in most of the activities. i really enjoyed the eating challenge. each team had 8 members. five members must eat three bananas without using their hands. two will eat a whole pack of ChocNut. the last person must drink 1.5L of water. i was one of the two who ate ChocNut. i think i did pretty good there.

i also got to take home the "tribe" flag that we did. (i really didn't do much to the flag but i got it anyway. haha)

we also did the spider web game. each person must go to the other side of the web without touching the stings. it was difficult, but still fun. the objective of the activity was to promote team work. we were all able to cross and we successfully finished the challenge.

we also played different card games. i learned one new game and it was weird. "play to learn"--that's what they told me. there are rules to this game--they just didn't tell me. i had to play to find out what the rules are. it's very interesting.

i also invented a new sport there. it's the water soccer. we played soccer while on the pool. the ball floats on water, so we tried to play soccer there. it was a crazy idea but i had fun.

i even learned new stuff there.

the seminar was a fun, exciting experience for me.

Seminar

i will be attending a seminar on wednesday.

i haven't prepared anything. clothes, food, other necessities. i must not forget to bring my toothbrush. hahaha.

for three days and two nights, i will be somewhere in Antipolo.

It's Vacation

i don't know why, but i keep forgetting that i'm on vacation now. i always keep thinking about school and projects and homeworks, and stuff. i guess i just got used to doing school stuff.

the last few weeks of the first semester were intense. all the projects and tests were present.

but now, i gotta enjoy the whole month. one full month without a single homework to do. i hope something really interesting and new will happen this break.

"10 (More) Reasons You're Not Rich"

i got this article from yahoo.com!

10 (More) Reasons You're Not Rich
by Jeffrey StrainWednesday, October 1, 2008provided by

Many people assume they aren't rich because they don't earn enough money. If I only earned a little more, I could save and invest better, they say.
The problem with that theory is they were probably making exactly the same argument before their last several raises. Becoming a millionaire has less to do with how much you make, it's how you treat money in your daily life.

The list of reasons you may not be rich doesn't end at 10. Caring what your neighbors think, not being patient, having bad habits, not having goals, not being prepared, trying to make a quick buck, relying on others to handle your money, investing in things you don't understand, being financially afraid and ignoring your finances.

Here are 10 more possible reasons you aren't rich:

You care what your car looks like: A car is a means of transportation to get from one place to another, but many people don't view it that way. Instead, they consider it a reflection of themselves and spend money every two years or so to impress others instead of driving the car for its entire useful life and investing the money saved.

You feel entitlement: If you believe you deserve to live a certain lifestyle, have certain things and spend a certain amount before you have earned to live that way, you will have to borrow money. That large chunk of debt will keep you from building wealth.

You lack diversification: There is a reason one of the oldest pieces of financial advice is to not keep all your eggs in a single basket. Having a diversified investment portfolio makes it much less likely that wealth will suddenly disappear.

You started too late: The magic of compound interest works best over long periods of time. If you find you're always saying there will be time to save and invest in a couple more years, you'll wake up one day to find retirement is just around the corner and there is still nothing in your retirement account.

You don't do what you enjoy: While your job doesn't necessarily need to be your dream job, you need to enjoy it. If you choose a job you don't like just for the money, you'll likely spend all that extra cash trying to relieve the stress of doing work you hate.

You don't like to learn: You may have assumed that once you graduated from college, there was no need to study or learn. That attitude might be enough to get you your first job or keep you employed, but it will never make you rich. A willingness to learn to improve your career and finances are essential if you want to eventually become wealthy.

You buy things you don't use: Take a look around your house, in the closets, basement, attic and garage and see if there are a lot of things you haven't used in the past year. If there are, chances are that all those things you purchased were wasted money that could have been used to increase your net worth.

You don't understand value: You buy things for any number of reasons besides the value that the purchase brings to you. This is not limited to those who feel the need to buy the most expensive items, but can also apply to those who always purchase the cheapest goods. Rarely are either the best value, and it's only when you learn to purchase good value that you have money left over to invest for your future.

Your house is too big: When you buy a house that is bigger than you can afford or need, you end up spending extra money on longer debt payments, increased taxes, higher upkeep and more things to fill it. Some people will try to argue that the increased value of the house makes it a good investment, but the truth is that unless you are willing to downgrade your living standards, which most people are not, it will never be a liquid asset or money that you can ever use and enjoy.

You fail to take advantage of opportunities: There has probably been more than one occasion where you heard about someone who has made it big and thought to yourself, "I could have thought of that." There are plenty of opportunities if you have the will and determination to keep your eyes open.

Eagle Eye

Here's the plot of the film Eagle Eye. i like this movie. it wasn't as great as some of the movies i've seen, but i still like it. it was really good.

i really like the part where the cops were chasing jerry and rachel. that was the most exciting part of the whole movie.

taken from wikipedia.org

The film begins with the armed forces getting a lead on a suspected terrorist. As the man is a recluse, getting a positive ID proves difficult, and the system recommends that the mission be aborted. The fact that he is apparently attending a funeral makes those present all the more nervous. The
Secretary of Defense (Michael Chiklis) agrees with the abort recommendation, but the President orders the mission be carried out anyway. This turns into a political backlash when all those killed turn out to be civilians, and retaliatory bombings are carried out in response.
Following the funeral of his successful twin brother, Ethan, Jerry Shaw (
Shia LaBeouf) returns home to find his apartment filled with a large amount of weapons, explosives, and forged documents. He receives a phone call from an unknown woman, who explains that the FBI are about to apprehend him in thirty seconds and that he must escape. Not believing her, he is caught by the FBI, led by Agent Thomas Morgan (Billy Bob Thornton) and Air Force Office of Special Investigations Special Agent Zoe Perez (Rosario Dawson). The unknown woman arranges Jerry's escape and has him join up with single mother Rachel Holloman (Michelle Monaghan). Holloman is being coerced into helping by the woman, who threatens to kill her son, Sam, a trumpet player on his way to Washington, D.C. from Chicago for a band recital.
The woman helps the pair to avoid the police and FBI units, demonstrating the ability to remotely control virtually any networked device, such as traffic lights, cell phones, and even automated cranes. While Jerry and Rachel follow her instructions, the woman has a
crystal explosive made into a necklace and its sound-based trigger placed inside Sam's trumpet. Jerry and Rachel are led to Washington, D.C. through various means. Along the way, they are introduced to the woman, who is actually a top secret super-computer called ARIA tasked with gathering intelligence from all over the world. ARIA, the overtaken computer, can control virtually anything electronic to that end. In light of the mistake made by the President at the beginning of the film, ARIA has decided that the executive branch is a threat to the public good and must be eliminated. She has decided to leave the Secretary of Defense, who agreed with her recommendation to abort, as the successor to the presidency. She does not reveal this to Jerry or Rachel, merely explaining that she is trying to help the people of the United States.
At
the Pentagon, where ARIA is housed, Agent Perez discovers that Ethan worked as a technician for the computer and locked it down to prevent ARIA from carrying out her plan. Perez warns the Secretary of Defense and they discuss the situation in a sealed room to prevent ARIA from hearing their conversation. Jerry and Rachel arrive at the Pentagon and are led to the super computer, where ARIA forces Jerry to impersonate Ethan and use an override code allowing her to go ahead with the plan. Following this, Rachel had been instructed by ARIA to eliminate Jerry so that he would not be able to lock the computer down as Ethan had, but she cannot bring herself to kill him. Jerry and Rachel split up and Jerry is caught by Agent Morgan, who, having been warned by Agent Perez, believes him and takes him to the United States Capitol. On their way, however, ARIA sends a MQ-9_Reaper UCAV after them. Agent Morgan sacrifices himself to destroy the craft and save Jerry.
Meanwhile, Agent Perez returns to the super computer and is successful in destroying it, but not before ARIA uploads roughly a quarter of her memory to another location. Rachel is given the explosive necklace and sent to watch the President's speech. Sam's class, whose recital has been moved from the
Kennedy Center to the Capitol for the President's State of the Union Address, begins to play. The trigger that will set off the explosive necklace is set to activate when Sam plays a high F on his trumpet corresponding to the word "free" in the last verse of the U.S. national anthem. Jerry fires Morgan's pistol into the air, stopping the performance and emptying the room, but provoking a Secret Service agent to shoot him in the shoulder.
In the aftermath of the chaos ARIA caused, the Secretary of Defense urges that another super computer should not be built. Ethan posthumously receives the
Medal of Honor while Jerry, injured but alive and well, receives the Congressional Gold Medal. The film ends with Jerry attending Sam's birthday party. Rachel thanks him for attending and kisses him on the cheek. She then tells Jerry that she is glad that he is there. After a second of silence, Jerry tells her, "Me too," and the film ends.v

What A Night(Til Morning)

i crashed to my friend's house because i needed to do my ten-page Physics paper.

but before we even got there, some things happened. we met at around 4, ate lunch(yes lunch at 4 weee). but he had to go to another place so i had to explore Sm Sta. Mesa by myself. i ate dinner there too(spent money again haha). and i also bought candies weee!!

then i met up with my Friend again, but we didn't go to their house yet. we explored his neighborhood a little bit. I've been to their house before, but it never saw the other parts of their place.

then the moment arrived. i started to do my paper. did some research, read some books, all these while talking with my Friends on the net. hahaha. i think i spent more time chatting that doing my paper.

suddenly my sister was online. then we talked. i was about to go back to doing my paper when my friend, who's in the US now went online. so i did my paper while talking to him. then i realized something. it was already 4 am. my friend was already awake by that time. i wasn't sleepy yet, so i decided to watch Naruto with my friend. i fell asleep while watching.

Surprise

ok so i was walking a while ago when i saw somebody who i shouldn't be seeing. i was on my way to my next class when i saw him. i recognized the bag he was carrying.

Martee's back.

he's the guy who went to Malaysia. i had no idea he was coming back. he arrived last week and i only found out about it a while ago. he had plans of going to the bonfire tomorrow and surprise us there, but i saw him a while ago.....so there. i got surprised a while ago.

it's funny cause he sent me a text message last week. he was already here when he this message to me, and i didn't even think that he would be here. i even saved the number under the name Martee Malaysia--i really thought he's still in malaysia, and that somehow he got a new number which he could use there.

we played rock band a while ago--it my first time to play that thing. it was fun. i was the drummer. i didn't know almost all the songs there. oh well.

How To Save Money

Since i am having a huge prblem with saving money, idecided to make a post about SAVING MONEY!!!

this is important!!

Top Ten Money Saving Tips at ieke.com

Save Money Tip 1
Spend Less. This is not over simplifying the best way to save money! It is essential if you are serious about being a long term money saver. Review what you spend and look at ways you can save money. Consider making telephone calls for instance only at off-peak times. Do you really need to have newspapers and magazines delivered? Can you do without those coffees you buy at break time everyday - would a flask of coffee taken to work save you money? What about using the public lending library instead of buying books or music CDs? Once you start looking for ways to spend less you will quickly become an expert and really save money.

Save Money Tip 2
Establish a personal budget. This is essential for families and individuals. You will not be able to save money unless you know how much money you have coming in, and how much money you have going out. Once you have prepared a budget of incoming money and outgoing money, you will be able to identify areas where you can save. It is MUCH more difficult to save money over a long period of time (the rest of your life?) without a budget.

Save Money Tip 3
Bulk is good. Think about shopping and buying in bulk. You can also save money by cooking in bulk. This is a real way you can save money with little preparation and almost no extra outlay. Always purchase generics when you can. Prepared foods and convenience foods will always be much more expensive than the generic ingredients needed to make the food. Preparing food in bulk and in advance also gives you the opportunity to plan ahead and be more accurate in your budget. Save Money by buying in bulk whenever you can. One thing to be aware of when buying in bulk is to be sure that any product you buy will get used before it goes bad - you won't save money if you have to throw stuff away. Buying in bulk is not only a good way to save money it is also a good strategy for coping with and surviving emergencies.

Save Money Tip 4
Make sure a sale is a sale. By this I mean do your price research before you commit to making an expensive purchase in a retailers money-off sale. You have to be sure the sale really is a sale and not a creative marketing strategy of the store to encourage you to spend your money without thinking. Once you have researched the true price of a product (any product) you are in a good position to take advantage of a sale, special offer or discount and really save money. "Buy one get one free", "50% off", and "Huge Discount" will only help you save money if the actual price you pay is lower than you would pay somewhere else for exactly the same product.

Save Money Tip 5
Buy used. Sure, we all like to buy new. But there are huge money savings to be made in buying used. Typically cars lose one-third of their value in the first 24 months from new. Why not buy a car 24 months old? Other items such as clothes can be worth even less just the day after new. Look for ways to buy "as good as new" items and save money. Typical products you might consider buying used to save money include: cars, clothes, electrical goods, garden items... tools and sheds, household items... pots and pans, the list of used goods where you can save money is endless.

Save Money Tip 6
Don't carry excessive debt. Some debt in our lives may be essential. We may need a mortgage to purchase a home, we may need to use our credit card to make purchases until pay-day, but your aim to save money should be to have as little debt as possible. Credit Card deb is typically the most expensive debt we may carry. You will be able to save money every month if you make it an absolute rule to pay off your outstanding balance every month. If you can have the discipline to do this you will save money by effectively having no debt, and thus no interest charge on your credit card(s).

Save Money Tip 7
Save Money. No, I mean really save some money. Each week or each month get into the habit of putting an amount, however small into your savings. You could start by saving a very small fixed amount each time and then move to putting in larger amounts once you begin to save money from your other money saving strategies. You will find that by saving money on a regular basis you will quickly build up a store of reserve money and also feel motivated to save more. The hardest part is to take the first step and start saving money - so START TODAY and save some money NOW! If you find it impossible to save money once you have it, consider having money deducted from your paycheck direct each month. This can be a great way to save money rapidly as once it is set up you will not notice it is being collected and your savings will grow with no more effort from you.

Save Money Tip 8
Shop Wisely. Consider markets, superstores, farmer's markets, local shops, marts and stores. Anywhere is worth checking out to see if you can save money. Farmer's Markets can be particularly good places to save money. Typically you are buying direct from the producer of the product so the savings are passed on to you. Use your bulk buying strategy here - farmer's markets often offer opportunities to save money by buying larger quantities of staples, for instance potatoes, rice or corn. Save money and shop wisely.

Save Money Tip 9
Eat in rather than out. This is a huge area where you can save money. A cup of coffee taken out could easily cost you TWENTY times (or more) what it would cost you to make it at home. So think before you drink when you are out. Eating is the same. Fast food restaurants are counting on you eating food that you perhaps don't really need at that time but buy just because it is quick. Why not wait until you get home and have a more nutritious meal and save money at the same time.

Save Money Tip 10
Use less. This money saving tip is a lesson we all need to learn. We live in a consumer society where waste is a huge problem. If we could all use and consume less there would be less waste, less power consumption, and the benefits for you are SAVING MONEY. Consider using less shampoo when you wash your hair, this may not mean washing your hair less effectively it means not flushing the excess shampoo and your money down the drain. What about saving on heating? Turn the thermostat down or put on extra clothes when you are cold. Turn off lights, the TV and the computer when they are not in use. Each little saving you make will build up and enable you to save money. Huge savings in energy can be made which will save you money and be good for our planet and the other people on it.

`The Twist' is top song of Billboard Hot 100 era

09/11/2008 5:00 AM, AP
Nekesa Mumbi Moody

How's this for a twist: Of all the No. 1 songs in the 50 years of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Chubby Checker's "The Twist" ranks as the most popular single.

Elvis and the Beatles didn't even make the top five.

Checker's ranking may come as a surprise to some, but not to the classic rocker.

"I'm glad they've finally recognized it," said Checker of his early 1960s hit.

He compared "The Twist" — named by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum as one of the 500 songs that shaped rock 'n' roll — to the creation of the telephone as a groundbreaking moment because he said it was the first time people were dancing "apart to the beat."

"Anyplace on the planet, when someone has a song that has a beat, they're on the floor dancing apart to the beat, and before Chubby Checker, it wasn't here, and I think that has a lot to do with me being on the charts," he said.

Santana's "Smooth," featuring Rob Thomas, is the No. 2 most popular, followed by Bobby Darin's "Mack the Knife," Leann Rimes' "How Do I Live" and "The Macarena" by Los Del Rio.

The Beatles did make the top 10, coming it at No. 8 with "Hey Jude." But Olivia Newton-John's "Physical" and Debby Boone's "You Light Up My Life" are ahead of that hit. Rounding out the top 10: Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together" at No. 9 and Toni Braxton's "Un-break My Heart" at No. 10.

Geoff Mayfield, director of charts at Billboard magazine, acknowledged that the list might not jibe with some fans' personal thoughts of the most popular songs of the past 50 years.

"This is simply a chronicle of how each of these songs performed in their era on the Hot 100. We're not saying these are the most memorable songs of your life. That would be something that's almost impossible to determine," said Mayfield. "Everyone has a subjective frame of reference."

The Beatles do top Billboard's all-time Hot 100 artists, followed by Madonna, Elton John, Elvis Presley, Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and the Rolling Stones. Billboard.com is breaking out some of the other chart achievements (the list of most No. 1 singles by an act is topped by the Beatles) on its Web site.

The Billboard Hot 100 chart measures airplay and sales information (and more recently digital downloads) in determining the nation's most popular songs. To determine the most popular song of the Hot 100 era, Billboard used a formula to determine the top song — not always relying on weeks at No. 1 since the data was reported differently in its early days.

Initially, Billboard relied on stations to report the most popular songs, and got sales surveys from record stores. But Mayfield said stations often stopped reporting on a song's popularity if it was no longer a priority for record labels. And in 1991, Billboard began relying on sales data from Nielsen SoundScan and airplay data from Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems. So Billboard weighted certain songs from different eras to make sure all songs were on an even playing field.

"We went through each era, and we looked through the rate of turnover. The rate of turnover was very high in the late '50s and early '60s, and we had to put a weight on that to make the chart runs of that era equal to the chart runs that can be accomplished since 1991," he said.

Checker's "The Twist" spent a total of only three weeks at the top of the charts, but did so twice in two separate runs more than a year apart.

"It's the only song that was ever No. 1 in two different chart runs," he said.

Checker said he was gratified that Billboard noted the popularity of "The Twist," and lamented that both the song and his career have been at times overlooked.

"My music is less played that any performer that has been a No. 1 chart man on the planet," said Checker, who also had hits with "Pony Time," "The Fly" and "Let's Twist Again," which earned him a Grammy. "I don't get the respect that Rod Stewart gets, or the Rolling Stones, or Frankie Valli. ... But I have to deal with it."

Acting Career

we had this "Sagala ng mga Sikat" and i just launched my acting career there. i had a supporting role there. it went fine and we actually won third place.

it was a great experience.

i was forced to do this, but i felt great after the performance.

Perfect Example

i wasn't able to finish the math midterms. i was actually in a hurry because i was supposed to watch a play. a friend of mine was the lead in that play, and i wanted to see the play.

i submitted my paper around 7:30 but my teacher didn't accpet it. i submitted it again at around 7:45 - 7:50. i rushed out of the room and started looking for my friends.(we were supposed to watch the play)

but we were not lucky enough to get a cab that would bring us there. so i wasn't able to watch the play. and i didn't finish the midterm exam.

this is a perfect example of a lose-lose situation.

Field Trip

we went to the philippine stock exchange and the bangko sentral ng pilipinas.

i learned new stuff there, like how our country makes our money. i know how they do it, but they explained it with more details a while ago. they also pointed out things about the design of our money which i haven't seen/noticed before. i also learned how to read the stock exchange board--not everything, but at least i have an idea now.

i also saw the money of the past, and i was able to compare it to the money of the present. they also had room where one can see the different currencies on the world--i am not sure if it's complete though.

i enjoyed the day--especially the trip itself. we watched a movie in the bus, i was able to meet new people, we were given free snacks(but i also brought snacks :D), and i was laughing most of the time.

it's a A HAPPY DAY!!!

Winner Of SYTYCD

the winner of so you think you can dance season 4 is JOSHUA ALLEN.

my order would have been

KATEE SHEAN- WINNER(OR EVEN SECOND PLACE)

TWITCH BOSS- SECOND PLACE(OR EVEN WINNER)

JOSHUA ALLEN- THIRD PLACE

COURTNEY GALIANO- FOURTH PLACE

BUT THE REAL ORDER WAS:

JOSHUA ALLEN- WINNER

TWITCH BOSS- SECOND PLACE

KATEE SHEAN- THIRD PLACE

COURTNEY GALIANO- FOURTH PLACE.

at least katee got 50,000 dollors for being america's favorite female dancer this season.

the finale was great--it would have been so much better if katee, or even twitch, won. joshua's great but, i just like katee and twitch better. but it's ok, he did well in the competition.

i liked the finale because:
they had a video about the previous contestants
they had a group dance with the previous contestants and the top 20 this season
nigel and mary did dance
katee danced 4 of the judges' picks
the top 20 group dance was so cool
AND OF COURSE-THE DANCE BATTLE BETWEEN PHILLIP CHBEEB AND ROBERT MURAINE
etc. hahahahahaha!

Jessica King Is Out Of SYTYCD

So You Think You Can Dance top 10 finalist Jessica King is out of the competion.

Jessica got injured and she had to leave the competition. because of this, Comfort Fedoke, who got eliminated during the last results show was asked to compete again in the competition.

the doctor of jessica said that she would need to rest. it's sad the she had to leave. i was somehow looking forward to see her have an amazing performance with another partner.

Comfort got Twitch as her partner.

comfort has another chance to prove her worth. however i somehow feel sad that thayne, who also got eliminated during the last results show(with comfort), will not have a chance to come back.

Filipinos

Melody and Ryan from "so you think you can dance" season 1 are filipino american dancers.

MELODY LACAYANGA
Melody Lacayanga is a Filipino American dancer from Daly City, California. She was the runner-up in Season 1 of FOX's So You Think You Can Dance. One of her close friends, Nick Lazzarini, was named the winner.

She is a trained jazz dancer. Among the other styles she performed on the show were hip hop, jive and Latin.

Lacayanga began dancing at age 5. At age 20, she moved from the San Francisco Bay Area to Los Angeles to try to pursue a dance career.

RYAN CONFERIDO

Ryan Conferido (born 1983) is a Filipino American bboy, best known for being a contestant on the first season of the United States dance competition television series, So You Think You Can Dance (2005).

Born on June 13, 1983 in Downey, California, Conferido was raised in a strict religious household where dance was discouraged. He picked up bboying on his own in high school. In 2005, though he had no formal training, he decided to audition for the first season of the Fox dance competition So You Think You Can Dance. His impressive self-taught breakdancing style earned him rave comments from the judges and was eventually picked as one of the top 16 finalists for the show. On the premiere episode, his ability to pick up what seems to be a technically difficult Latin dance routine brought him a standing ovation. He proceeded through multiple rounds of eliminations, and was one of the last 16 dancers eliminated.

Prior to his fame in the Fox show, Conferido appeared in numerous movies as an extra.

Conferido was also seen in some of the audition episodes during the 2006 season accompanying some of his dancing associates who were trying out during the new auditions in Los Angeles. He and his "Sickstep" (i think it's "six step crew") dance troupe were invited to be featured performers on the June 21, 2006 episode.

Following news that he and other members have officially left the dance crew Sickstep(i think it's "six step crew"), Conferido started his own crew Quest together with Hokuto Konishi, Steve Terada, Victor Kim, Nick Teti, Brian Hirano & Aris Paracuelles(if i'm not mistaken, sara von gillern and dominic sandoval are members of this crew). Conferido is also a core member of the b-boy crew "The City Drifters". He has been in music videos for Papa Roach, the live action adaptation of Fat Albert, the Bboy DVD Unsigned Undadog, and "Based on a True Story, volume 2". He also appeared for both an interview and performance on Live with Regis and Kelly.

for entertainment purposes, here are some videos of melody and ryan :))

it's my friend's birthday today(pao)!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Wanted

i watched the movie wanted yesterday. it's a great film, but it's also sad.

got this from wikipedia:
"Wesley Gibson (James McAvoy), who works as an accounts manager in a firm, is offered the opportunity to change his monotonous and unrewarding life by avenging the murder of his father, a member of a thousand-year-old secret society of assassins called the Fraternity who follow death orders issued by the Loom of Destiny. The group's leader, Sloan (Morgan Freeman), invites Gibson to follow in his father's footsteps. Sloan appoints assassin Fox (Angelina Jolie) to mentor the young man. When Fox meets Wesley, he is being followed by the man that killed his father. After a narrow escape, Fox and the Fraternity begin to train Wesley. The training is brutal. It is meant to harden Wesley into the killing machine that the Fraternity needs.

Once he has completed his training, Wesley is given orders to kill people he does not know. Before going on his first assignment, he questions Fox, "How do we know who is bad or good?" She answers by telling him her story. Her father was a judge. An assassin was sent to their house. He killed her father in front of her by setting him on fire. The assassin then branded her on the neck. It turns out that the assassin had been targeted for assassination several weeks prior, but the assassin who was assigned to kill him failed to do so. Fox then explains that is what the Fraternity does: kill one, and save a thousand. Wesley then proceeds to kill his first target. He is then given several more targets to take out.

After being shot by his father's killer, Wesley analyzes the bullet and finds out where it came from. He is given the go ahead by Sloan to find the bullet maker. Fox admits to Sloan that she believes it to be a bad idea. Sloan then hands Fox a new order from the Loom, commanding her to kill Wesley. He travels to Europe to find the maker. Once there, he has a confrontation with his father's killer on a moving train. The train crashes on a bridge connecting two cliffs, but when Wesley is about to fall, his father's killer catches his hand, holding on to him. However. Wesley does not hesitate and fatally shoots him, even though it would cost Wesley his life, as he is still hanging over the edge. The train finally plunges and gets stuck between the two cliffs, but Wesley manages to survive inside. Before the killer dies, he tells Wesley that he is Wesley's father. Fox comes out of the shadows and confirms the story. Wesley makes a narrow escape, diving to the water below. He is rescued by the bullet maker, Pekwarsky (Terence Stamp), and wakes up across the street from his former apartment. Pekwarsky tells Wesley that Sloan is making killings for profit instead of following the Loom's messages. He also tells Wesley that his father wanted him to have a normal life instead of that of an assassin.

Wesley then plots revenge. He captures several hundred rats and places mini bombs on them. He crashes a garbage truck into the Fraternity compound, which dumps the rats who run off all over the compound. After all the rats explode, he charges in, killing all the Fraternity members he encounters. When he reaches Sloan's office, he is immediately surrounded by Fox and a few other high level assassins. Wesley tells them that Sloan is killing for profit by providing his killers with fake instructions from the Loom. Fox asks Sloan if this is true. He states that what is true is that all of their names came up as targets. By doing what he did, he had saved their lives because each and every last assassin in the room's name's had come up in the loom of fate. He goes on to say that, if they really believe in the code, then they should all commit suicide. After contemplating, Fox shoots and curves the bullet's trajectory so that it kills all the Fraternity members in the room. The bullet completes the arc and the last person it hits is Fox herself. She drops to the floor dead. Wesley then goes after Sloan, but he's gone.

Time passes and Wesley tricks Sloan into believing that he has returned to his former life. Sloan goes to Wesley's former place of employment intending to kill him, only to find a decoy, calling back the beginning scene of the movie. The real Wesley takes him out with a mile-long sniper shot. The film ends comically by Wesley asking the audience, 'What the fuck have you done lately?'"

Panic

i thought my class would start at ten. i left the house ten minutes before ten so i was running and hurrying. i got there(school) ten minutes after ten. i knew i was already late, but i was hoping that the teacher wasn't there yet. then i went to the new classroom(our teacher decided to move to another room. i was sure it was room 306, but when i got there, i didn't see my block mates. my teacher was there though, so i was thinking, "should i go in?") i was already panicking, running around, finding the correct room. then i saw one of my block mates. i asked her where we should go(i thought she was also late). it really was room 306, but one thing i found out, my class would start at 10:30, and not 10.

while waiting, my block mates asked me about the homework in Filipino. i wasn't able to do it, and the deadline was 5pm. around 3:45 pm, i started doing my HOMEwork. the problem: i didn't know how to answer the questions. i was able to submit my paper ten minutes before the time.

Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

i was doing my physics homework and i found this article. it's somehow interesting. i got this from http://www.gaiamind.com/Teilhard.html.

TEILHARD DE CHARDIN
1881 - 1955
By Anodea Judith

Pierre Teilhard de Chardin was a visionary French Jesuit, paleontologist, biologist, and philosopher, who spent the bulk of his life trying to integrate religious experience with natural science, most specifically Christian theology with theories of evolution. In this endeavor he became absolutely enthralled with the possibilities for humankind, which he saw as heading for an exciting convergence of systems, an "Omega point" where the coalescence of consciousness will lead us to a new state of peace and planetary unity. Long before ecology was fashionable, he saw this unity he saw as being based intrinsically upon the spirit of the Earth:

"The Age of Nations is past. The task before us now, if we would not perish, is to build the Earth."
Teilhard de Chardin passed away a full ten years before James Lovelock ever proposed the "Gaia Hypothesis" which suggests that the Earth is actually a living being, a collosal biological super-system. Yet Chardin's writings clearly reflect the sense of the Earth as having its own autonomous personality, and being the prime center and director of our future -- a strange attractor, if you will -- that will be the guiding force for the synthesis of humankind.

"The phrase 'Sense of the Earth' should be understood to mean the passionate concern for our common destiny which draws the thinking part of life ever further onward. The only truly natural and real human unity is the spirit of the Earth. . . .The sense of Earth is the irresistible pressure which will come at the right moment to unite them (humankind) in a common passion.

"We have reached a crossroads in human evolution where the only road which leads forward is towards a common passion. . . To continue to place our hopes in a social order achieved by external violence would simply amount to our giving up all hope of carrying the Spirit of the Earth to its limits."

To this end, he suggested that the Earth in its evolutionary unfolding, was growing a new organ of consciousness, called the noosphere. The noosphere is analogous on a planetary level to the evolution of the cerebral cortex in humans. The noosphere is a "planetary thinking network" -- an interlinked system of consciousness and information, a global net of self-awareness, instantaneous feedback, and planetary communication. At the time of his writing, computers of any merit were the size of a city block, and the Internet was, if anything, an element of speculative science fiction. Yet this evolution is indeed coming to pass, and with a rapidity, that in Gaia time, is but a mere passage of seconds. In these precious moments, the planet is developing her cerebral cortex, and emerging into self-conscious awakening. We are indeed approaching the Omega point that Teilhard de Chardin was so excited about.

This convergence however, though it was predicted to occur through a global information network, was not a convergence of merely minds or bodies -- but of heart, a point that he made most fervently.

"It is not our heads or our bodies which we must bring together, but our hearts. . . . Humanity. . . is building its composite brain beneath our eyes. May it not be that tomorrow, through the logical and biological deepening of the movement drawing it together, it will find its heart, without which the ultimate wholeness of its power of unification can never be achieved?"

Playing For Pizza

i found out a while ago that "playing for pizza", a book by john grisham, will be a movie soon.

www.cinematical.com/2008/05/22/phoenix-pictures-is-playing-for-pizza-with-john-grisham/

"When you think John Grisham, you usually think of legal thrillers, right? Well, that and the term 'airplane reading', but you probably don't think pastoral sports stories (I know I don't). The Hollywood Reporter announced that Phoenix Pictures has purchased the rights to Grisham's 2007 novel, Playing for Pizza, and the company is already on the hunt for a writer and director for the sports dramedy.

Pizza centers on a third string quarterback for the Cleveland Browns named Rick Docker. After blowing his team's championship shot, Rick is dropped from the team and blacklisted from the NFL. Luckily for him, his enterprising agent finds him a spot in the Italian football league playing for the Parma Panthers. From then on the story is probably a compendium of 'fish out of water jokes', and general cultural misunderstanding -- I'm thinking something along the lines of Under the Tuscan Sun, but with a lot more tackling.
I can't help but remembering back to the 90's when it seemed like you couldn't turn around without seeing another one of Grisham's legal dramas go into production. But, as audiences (and the quality of the movies) sagged, it seemed like his moment in the sun had passed. Now that George Clooney's Smokehouse has picked up the screen rights to Grisham's non-fiction novel, The Innocent Man: Murder and Injustice in a Small Town with David Gordon Green set to direct, there may just be a second chance for Grisham on the big screen after all -- although it's going to be awfully tough to live down the reputation of being the man responsible for Christmas with The Kranks."

www.collider.com/entertainment/news/article.asp/aid/7950/tcid/1

"Phoenix Pictures has bought the film rights to John Grisham's "Playing for Pizza," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The 2007 novel is one of the very few non-legal tomes published by the author of "A Time to Kill" and "The Client."

"Pizza" centers on a former NFL quarterback whose agent farms him out to a semi-pro team in Parma, Italy. A downward career move actually becomes a blessing when the quarterback falls in love with his adopted homeland.

While Grisham's 1990's courtroom adaptations have been huge at the box-office, his only non litigious novel to be made into a major motion picture, 2004's "Christmas with the Kranks," has not gone down as well with audiences. Maybe it wasn't Grisham's fault. I think Tim Allen had just made one too many Christmas flicks.

Yet the Grisham name still sells scripts, no matter what the subject matter. Case in point: the author's sole work of non-fiction, "The Innocent Man," which was snapped up for the big screen by George Clooney.

No screenwriter has yet been assigned to "Playing for Pizza" by Phoenix Pictures – the same company that brought us "Zodiac" and Martin Scorsese's forthcoming "Shutter Island" with Leonardo DiCaprio."

Sleep

got the article from yahoo.com

i learned new things here. it's very interesting and very informative. (not sure if everything's all true though) it's an article about sleep and life. :D

Sleep is one of the richest topics in science today: why we need it, why it can be hard to get, and how that affects everything from our athletic performance to our income. Daniel Kripke, co-director of research at the Scripps Clinic Sleep Center in La Jolla, Calif., has looked at the most important question of all. In 2002, he compared death rates among more than 1 million American adults who, as part of a study on cancer prevention, reported their average nightly amount of sleep. To many his results were surprising, but they've since been corroborated by similar studies in Europe and East Asia. Kripke explains.

Q: How much sleep is ideal?

A: Studies show that people who sleep between 6.5 hours and 7.5 hours a night, as they report, live the longest. And people who sleep 8 hours or more, or less than 6.5 hours, they don't live quite as long. There is just as much risk associated with sleeping too long as with sleeping too short. The big surprise is that long sleep seems to start at 8 hours. Sleeping 8.5 hours might really be a little worse than sleeping five.

Morbidity, [or sickness,] is also "U-shaped," in the sense that both very short sleep and very long sleep are associated with many illnesses - with depression, with obesity, and therefore with heart disease and so forth. But the [ideal amount of sleep] for different health measures isn't all in the same place. Most of the "low points" are at seven or eight hours, but there are some at six and some even at nine. I think diabetes is lowest in seven-hour sleepers, [for example]. But these measures aren't as clear as the mortality data.

I think we can speculate [about why people who sleep 6.5 to 7.5 hours live longer], but we have to admit that we don't really understand the reasons. We don't really know yet what is cause and what is effect. So we don't know if a short sleeper can live longer by extending their sleep, and we don't know if a long sleeper can live longer by setting the alarm clock a bit earlier. We're hoping to organize tests of those questions.

One of the reasons I like to publicize these facts is that I think we can prevent a lot of insomnia and distress just by telling people that short sleep is OK. We've all been told you ought to sleep eight hours, but there was never any evidence. A very common problem we see at sleep clinics is people who spend too long in bed. They think they should sleep eight hours or nine hours, so they spend eight or nine hours in bed, with the result that they have trouble falling asleep and they wake up a lot during the night. Oddly enough, a lot of the problem [of insomnia] is lying in bed awake worrying about it. There have been many controlled studies in the United States, Great Britain and other parts of Europe that show that an insomnia treatment that involves getting out of bed when you're not sleepy, and restricting your time in bed, actually helps people to sleep more. They get over their fear of the bed. They get over the worry, and they become confident that when they go to bed they will sleep. So spending less time in bed actually makes sleep better. It is in fact a more powerful and effective long-term treatment for insomnia than sleeping pills. View this article on Time.com

First Day

First day of school

Physics Lab: we were dismissed early(1 hour earlier)

PE: i only spent 15 minutes there. but i didn't know that arnis people have actual uniforms, not the white shirt and red pants.

Filipino: we had our diagnostic test--and it was really hard. i wasn't able to finish the test on time. i don't want to go to basic filipino.

Math: we discussed radicals and exponents.
